The Tiniest Difference

The Tiniest Difference

For champion swimmer Michael Phelps, the difference between going home as the most successful Olympic swimmer of all time and going home as the guy who almost broke the record was a mere 0.01 of a second.

The difference between getting to hold the trophy and getting to stand and watch the guy holding up the trophy? One great shot.

The gap between winning and losing can be as tiny as a nose. A centimetre. The smallest edge can turn you into a champion, or send you home with nada.

Don’t fool yourself into thinking you have to take great strides to be a huge success. More often than not, it’s that last, tiny bit of difference you can make that rises you way above everyone else. That pushes you past being just “great” to being outstanding.

Focus on the tiny push, and use it everywhere you can. Give that little bit extra to everyone you meet. To your customers. To your family. To your colleagues.  Your audience. To yourself.

Every single effort you make to be a little bit better than you were yesterday makes you incrementally more remarkable over time.

Where can you push yourself that tiny bit more?
