Why Uncomfortable Is Good For You

PIns and NeedlesHave you ever sat in one position for so long that you started to get pins and needles in your foot? Remember that sensation, just for a minute.

Now imagine yourself stretching out; the blood rushing gratefully to your toes. You know you’ve done the right thing, but every step feels like a cactus beneath your feet. A army of little people are sticking their tiny daggers into every toe and there’s absolutely nothing you can do.

Two minutes feels like forever, But soon, the tiny swords are put away, and you can move again. Bliss! It’s almost as if nothing had ever happened. You could even run around the block if you wanted to. (Perhaps you should if you’ve been sitting down for so long :) )

The point is this.

If you need to change your position – whether it’s a mind-set you’re stuck on, or a job you hate, or a situation that’s making you feel miserable, then it’s time to move. Do something different. Think a different thought. Stretch out and grow.

You might feel a little uncomfortable, and for a short while you might even feel a little pain. That’s ok.

Because uncomfortable is always a good thing. It can prod and entice us into places we would never have had the courage or desire to go to.

So – where are you going to grow to now?
