Who Is The Tiny Soprano?
A tiny soprano may look small but makes a really big noise when she starts to sing. (Good things can come in small packages. From little things, big things grow. Small but powerful…you get the picture.)
My mission here at The Tiny Soprano is to offer you small but powerful ways to become more authentic, more aligned, and more in tune with the best version of you.
Three times a week I feature articles on thinking differently, taking action, living healthily and positively, motivation, change, getting the life you really want and overcoming fear and procrastination. You can subscribe here via rss or email to get regular updates.
The Tiny Soprano is, of course, me – Natalie Christie. For most of my life I was a successful international opera singer, singing all over the world and being a regular little diva. Which I really loved, for a while. I got to sing in famous opera houses, meet Prince Charles (three times!), be on tv, travel all over the world and stay in really amazing hotels (pillow menus) as well as some really awful ones (lumpy mattresses).
But when I had my first child I did what many women do and took a breather from my career. I wanted to spend more time with my family and in the process discovered many other interesting things that I wanted to do, besides opera. Like writing, and starting my own business, and working from home instead of living out of a suitcase. It wasn’t that I didn’t want to sing any more, just that I didn’t want to just be a singer. I wanted my life to be a little less about me, and more about what I could give back.
So I jumped headlong into the passions that used to be “little hobbies” on the side. I studied Neuro Linguistic Programming, nutritional therapy, psychology, marketing, quantum physics (no, seriously) and made my delicious way through every Deepak Chopra and Wayne Dyer audio I could get my tiny hands on. And yes, I did a Tony Robbins firewalk, too. Good times, my tiny tribesters, good times.
This site is a not so tiny way for me to share this journey with you…and more than anything I want to inspire you to tackle the big changes you are wanting to make in your life. I appreciate and value comments and discussion, so don’t just sit there on the sidelines, get stuck in and contribute!
I’m married with two kids (with one on the way, so expect me to be a busy woman round Christmas time!!), and as of 2009 I live in Brisbane, having lived in the UK for 13 years. I love reading New Scientist, watching old movies (fave film anything by Powell & Pressburger but “Blimp” probably a nose in front of “A Matter of Life & Death”), dancing flamenco, yoga (albeit currently very wobbly with my growing bump) and my favourite food is buffalo mozzarella. I’m also known to be a bit of a marketing and social epidemic junkie, but keep that one under your hat.
If you are interested in reading about my life as an opera singer, then you should read my biography, or check out some of the really lovely things some critics actually said out loud – in public – about my singing.
Perhaps you are also a singer? If so then you absolutely must get involved in my OperaAid project. I also happen to have a small selection of singing students here in Brisbane, so if you are ever in town and fancy a lesson, send me a tweet and I’ll see if I can squeeze you in.
You can contact me by email at thetinysoprano at gmail dot com – it’s a personal email and I will always reply personally. Or you can catch me on Twitter. Following is good too! Or become a fan and join in the discussion on The Tiny Soprano Facebook page.
I looking forward to getting to know you better!
